Optometrist

An optometrist is an eye care professional with a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree. An optometrist can prescribe glasses and contact lenses, and diagnose and treat ocular disease. Optometrists can prescribe medications to treat various ocular conditions. In a small number of states, optometrists can perform laser or minor eye surgeries, though this is not common.
