Excimer Laser

The excimer laser is used to gently sculpt the cornea in laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) and photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). This ultraviolet (UV) laser uses shorter-wavelength light and is considered to be a cool beam laser since it removes tissue without heating it.
