Conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis describes inflammation of the conjunctiva, the clear tissue covering the white part of the front of the eye. Pink eye is the term generally reserved for the infectious type of conjunctivitis most commonly caused by a virus; however, bacteria and allergies can also cause conjunctivitis.
