Treatment Options We Provide

Your path to clearer vision starts with understanding what's available at our Washington Street facility. LASIK eye surgery remains our most popular procedure. We use state-of-the-art VISX laser technology to reshape your cornea with remarkable precision. Beyond traditional LASIK, we offer PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) for patients whose corneal thickness or lifestyle makes them better candidates.

Custom wavefront LASIK gives you an even more personalized approach. It maps your eye's unique imperfections to deliver superior visual outcomes. For those dealing with presbyopia, our monovision LASIK technique can reduce your dependence on reading glasses. Each treatment plan gets carefully tailored to your specific visual needs and lifestyle. Finding Our Loop Office

Our office is at 25 E Washington Street on the sixth floor. If you're coming from Belmont Central, you probably know downtown pretty well. We're right in the medical district where a lot of the top doctors practice.

The Chicago Theatre is your big landmark. That huge marquee on State Street is impossible to miss. Once you spot that, you're basically here. Millennium Park is just a few blocks east if you arrive early and want to walk around. A lot of our Belmont Central patients do exactly that.

Block 37 is right at State and Washington if you need to grab lunch or do some shopping. The Chicago Cultural Center is nearby too—the one with the fancy Tiffany dome inside. At street level, there are coffee shops where you can grab a quick cup before coming up, or nicer restaurants if you want to make a day of it.

If you're staying overnight (some people do after the procedure), the Palmer House Hilton and Hyatt Centric Loop are both walking distance. Your family can easily get around downtown while you rest up.

Driving from Belmont Central to Our Office

The drive from Belmont Central is pretty straightforward. Most of our patients take the Kennedy. Here's what works best:

Distance and timing: About 10-12 miles total. Budget 20-25 minutes if traffic is moving.

Rush hour tip: Morning rush (7-9 AM) adds another 20 minutes easy. The Kennedy gets packed coming into the city. Friday afternoons after 3 PM are also rough. Try to schedule around those times if you can.

Parking advice: There are several parking garages nearby. The Millennium Park Garage is close and usually has space. Street parking in the Loop is basically impossible, so we definitely recommend a garage.

Public Transit from Belmont Central

  • Metra: There are two Metra stations just south of Belmont Central on the Milwaukee District/West Line. Catch the train to Union Station downtown. From Union Station, hop on the #157 or #126 CTA bus straight to Washington Street. Total commute is around 35-40 minutes.
  • Bus Route 77 (Belmont): Runs along Belmont Avenue and connects to other downtown routes. This takes longer but works if the Blue Line isn't convenient.
  • Rideshare: Uber and Lyft can drop you right at our door. Typical fares run $18-28 depending on surge pricing. Many patients prefer this for the ride home when driving isn't recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does LASIK hurt during the procedure?

Expand F.A.Q.

No, LASIK doesn't hurt during the actual procedure. We use numbing eye drops that make your eyes completely numb. You won't feel any pain. What you might feel is some pressure when we're working on your eye, kind of like someone gently pressing on your eyelid. But it's not painful at all.

The whole thing takes about 15 minutes for both eyes. Most Belmont Central patients tell us it's way easier than they expected. After the numbing drops wear off (a few hours later), your eyes might feel scratchy or like you've been swimming in a chlorinated pool. That goes away pretty quickly. We give you drops to keep you comfortable. By the next day, most people feel totally normal.

How long do LASIK results last?

Expand F.A.Q.

LASIK results are permanent. The reshaping we do to your cornea doesn't change over time. Most Belmont Central patients enjoy clear vision for decades after their procedure. However, your eyes can still change as you age—that's just normal aging, not the LASIK wearing off.

Around age 40-45, everyone develops presbyopia (difficulty reading up close). LASIK doesn't prevent that because it's a natural aging change in your lens, not your cornea. Some people might need reading glasses later in life even after LASIK. Also, if you develop cataracts when you're older, that affects your vision regardless of whether you had LASIK. But the actual LASIK correction itself is permanent and stable.(1)

Can I still wear contacts if LASIK doesn't work for me?

Expand F.A.Q.

Yes, if for some reason LASIK doesn't give you the vision you want, you can still wear contacts afterward. But honestly, that's pretty rare. Most patients get the vision they want from LASIK. We actually have you stop wearing contacts for a couple weeks before your consultation so we can measure your eyes accurately.

If you're not a good candidate for LASIK, we'll tell you upfront during the consultation—we won't do the procedure if it's not right for you. We might recommend PRK or another procedure instead. The consultation is free, and there's no pressure. We'd rather be honest with you than do a procedure that won't give you great results. That's how we've been doing business in Chicago for 30 years.
