Kamra Inlay Surgery

What to Expect on Day of Surgery

The Procedure

From start to finish, the KAMRA® inlay procedure will typically take less than 20 minutes and is done in the comfort of our offices. You may feel slight pressure while one of our doctors use a laser to create a small opening in the first few layers of your eye, known as the cornea. However, it only lasts a few seconds. We will provide you with numbing drops to ensure you are comfortable throughout the procedure. Dr. Kraff will then pace the inlay within the opening in the cornea.

After surgery, your eyes may feel irritated or scratchy and you may also experience excessive tearing or light sensitivity. This is normal. Dr. Kraff will provide you additional medications to help you manage these symptoms.

Out of great caution and concern over the coronavirus, we have decided to close Kraff Eye Institute end of business March 17th. We will evaluate weekly to determine if we should continue with our closure. As of March 30th, we anticipate being closed until April 10th. We will adjust this message accordingly should that date change. We care too much about the health of our patients and staff to increase any of the “community spread” of COVID-19. The decision was made after many discussions with peers, local and national medical communities, as well as heeding the advice of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) about the severity of the issue.

Our phones will be operational for communication with you our patients. Please continue to call Kraff Eye Institute 312-444-1111. You can contact the office via the patient portal or standard email at info@kraffeye.com. Our office hours will be Monday through Friday 9:00am-4:00pm.

We are available to reschedule current appointments and setting up future visits.
The staff will triage questions and prescription refill requests. Please contact the office directly for this.
Contact lens orders will be placed if requested for direct ship to your home. If you are due for your exam, we can extend your prescription until COVID-19 passes. If you need to pick up contacts from our office, please call to arrange at 312-444-1111.

Please also note if we have not yet connected with you to reschedule your appointment for the next two weeks our staff will do so in the next few days. We apologize for any delay as there are many patients to contact currently.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Kraff Eye Institute looks forward to resuming business as usual as soon as possible.

Stay healthy!
